Our custom home construction methods:
In addition to building Energy Star Homes we also utilize cutting edge building science techniques. Many of our homes feature the highly efficient polyurethane spray foam insulation. Spray foam insulation gives the homeowner and extremely energy efficient home, adds strength and rigidity to the structure and makes for a very quiet, comfortable and clean environment inside your home. We also provide Conditioned Crawlspaces that are totally encapsulated. What are conditioned crawlspaces? Conditioned crawl spaces have many features that make it an attractive addition to a quality home. They are energy efficient, maintain clean air in the home and insure that mold and mildew will not creep into your home. Conventional crawl spaces are vented which allow air to escape from the crawl space but also allow moisture and humid air to infiltrate as well. Warm humid air and dark places are ideal conditions for mold and mildew especially in the Southeast where these conditions are common. Recent EPA and healthy home advocates have done extensive research into conditioned crawlspaces and have found them to have significant benefits. Conditioned crawlspaces have no vents and the space is sealed tight with a special Radon and mold repellant liner. A dehumidifier is paired with a sump pump to control the humidity level. When moisture is taken from the air and converted to water, it is pumped out of the crawlspace. Here are some of the features:
- Energy efficient - maintains the humidity of the crawlspace and the same percentage as your home (65-75%).
- Reduces or eliminates the possibility of mold and mildew this keeping your living area above clean and healthy.
